Gorillaz top the UK singles chart

GORILLAZ have shot straight to the top of the UK singles chart tonight with ’DARE’ (September 4).

The cartoon band knocked Oasis’ ’The Importance Of Being Idle’ off the top spot, whilst Rihanna’s ’Pon De Replay’ sticks at Two.

Jessica Simpson is the second highest new entry this week at Four with her cover of Nancy Sinatra’s ‘These Boots Are Made For Walkin” and David Gray and Les Rythmes Digitales score Top Ten debuts with ’The One I Love’ and ’Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat)’ respectively.


Elsewhere in the Top Forty, Paul McCartney charts at 20 with ’Fine Line’, Elbow enter in at 22 with ’Forget Myself’ and My Chemical Romance go in at 27 with ’The Ghost Of You’.

In the album rundown, McFly go straight in at Number One with ’Wonderland’ and Kanye West’s ’Late Registration’ narrowly misses pole position at Two.
