Albarn’s bandmate Hewlett recently described the upcoming album as “really fuckin’ special” and said that it “can’t be rushed”.

Speaking of the new album in 2015, Albarn said, “So far, it’s really fast, and it’s got quite a lot of energy. I’ve been stuck on piano, somewhere off Broadway, for years now. I want to go somewhere completely opposite of that.”

In May, rapper Vic Mensa was pictured in the studio with Albarn.
