Gossip have unveiled the video for their new single ‘Perfect World’ – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch.
The promo for the track, which is the lead single from their forthcoming new album ‘A Joyful Noise’ and is released this May, sees Beth Ditto and co take over a church with a troupe of dancers.
Previously, Ditto said that the new LP – which is their first studio effort since their 2009 effort ‘Music For Men’ – is more mature than their older albums. “It sounds grown-up and sad. I love sad songs,” she said. “They say so much. I love country music but even the happy songs sound really sad.”
The LP has been produced by Brian Higgins of pop production company Xenomania and Mark Ronson. Speaking about working with Ronson, Ditto told NME: “One of our most common bonds was that we both loved big voices, church voices. He loves country music, which is a big deal to me because, you know, in terms of things I love, country music is probably number one, then it’s punk and hip-hop.”
Gossip have also announced a one-off UK show for this May, with the band set to headline London’s XOYO venue on May 15. To check the availability of Gossip tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
