Green Day have confirmed that they will be performing a huge UK show at London’s Emirates Stadium next summer.
The pop-punk trio, who are currently reading their new album trilogy ‘¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!’, will headline the 60,000 capacity stadium on June 1, 2013. Tickets for the show will go onsale at the end of next month on September 28.
The band, who also played a surprise set on the NME/Radio 1 Stage at last weekend’s Reading Festival, said from the stage at their intimate London show on Thursday (August 23) that they would “be back next year for a full UK tour” and it is likely that other large-scale shows will be announced before the Emirates show’s onsale date.
The band’s new album trilogy, ‘¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!’, will be released in three stages. The first album, ‘¡Uno!’, comes out on September 24, with the second LP, ‘¡Dos!’, coming out on November 12 and ‘¡Tré!’ on January 14, 2013.
To coincide with the release of ‘¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!’, the band are also putting out a pair of documentaries. One is being made by Tim Lynch, a producer of the band’s recent DVD Green Day: Bullet In A Bible, and Tim Wheeler, a co-producer and editor ofThe White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights. It will focus on the making of the band’s three new albums. A second documentary is being created from vintage footage shot during the band’s pre-‘Dookie’ days.
