Did Green Day perform at Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s wedding?

Video footage emerges which appears to show Billie Joe Armstrong play 'Last Night on Earth' for the couple

Video footage has emerged which appears to show Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong performing at Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s wedding.

The video, posted on TMZ, features a sound recording which seems to be Armstrong performing Green Day’s ‘Last Night on Earth’ for the Facebook founder and his wife Priscilla Chan.

“Mark wanted me to play this song,” the voice says. “This song is one that I wrote for my wife of 18 years — it better be for her, or I’d be in deep trouble. This song is called ‘Last Night on Earth’. Armstrong married his wife Adrienne Nesser in 1994.

Green Day’s spokesperson told NME he could not confirm whether Armstrong performed at the wedding. It is not clear whether he would have been paid by the billionaire Facebook founder for his performance.

Green Day are currently working on their new albums ‘¡Uno!’, ‘¡Dos!’ ‘¡Tré!’, which are due for release towards the end of this year. The trio will be released in three stages, the first coming out in September, the second in November and third and final album on January 12 2013.

The band will headline the Voodoo Music Experience festival in New Orleans in October. They will also play headline shows at Japan’s Summer Sonic festival and France’s Rock En Seine in August and a headline slot at I-Day festival in Bologna, Italy on September 2 as well as three shows in Germany in late August.

Although Green Day currently have no UK dates scheduled, their American Idiot musical will tour later this year. The musical will be in the UK for three months, ending up with a two-week run at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo in December.
