GREEN DAY are to play a free concert as part of the
“TAKE BACK SAN FRANCISCO” protest on Sunday (November 5).
The band will kick off a show at the Civic Centre Plaza at 4.30pm as part of the day of action to protest about the Bay
Area becoming increasingly inhospitable towards artists and musicians.
Protest organiser, Ian Brennan told mtv.com: “[They] are very committed to the community. They stayed here, they are supporters of the music scene.” Also lending their
weight to the outcry will be Metallica’s Kirk
Hammett, Mark Eitzel and band Creeper
Lagoon. Jello Biafra has had to pull out of the event, which also includes a “Million Band March” in the city. The day’s
action is supported by radio station Berkley KPFA-FM.
