And they're "really excited" about the whole thing...

GREEN DAY are to record 35 songs for their new album due in September.

The band have been in the studio working on the follow-up to 2000’s ’Warning’ this year.

Singer Billy Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone: “We’ve got about 35 songs we’re going to record. It’s a lot of material. We’re trying to get one theme throughout the album, because we’re in the album business, not in the business of making singles.

“We’re really excited about it. And hopefully we can make some sense out of it.”
