GREEN DAY return this autumn with their most ambitious album yet.

The punk superstars headline the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds bashes this weekend, where they will debut material from ‘American Idiot’.

Released on September 21, the band’s eighth album is a self-confessed rock opera which ‘details the alienation and disillusionment of the American citizen under Bush’s post-War On Terror administration’.

The band have been heavily involved in the US rock campaign to urge young voters to take part in the forthcoming presidential election.

Two tracks, ‘Jesus Of Suburbia’ and ‘Homecoming’ are five-part operettas, making a mammoth tracklisting as follows:
