The US punksters may even include some new material on the proposed collection...

GREEN DAY are planning to release a singles compilation later in the year.

The band have spent recent months working on a handful of new songs during a break from touring, which is set to resume in the US later this month.

Now, speaking in an interview with MTV news, bassist Mike Dirnt said that the band are looking to compile their singles on to one record which will be released later in the year

He said: “I look at singles collections and think, that’s something people put out when they’re 40. But we’ve got like 20 singles already.”

Dirnt said the record will have a “really cool, funny title”, and may also feature a small amount of new material.

A UK spokesperson for the band was unavailable to confirm any release dates for the record.
