Green Day announce release of their first book

For "everywoman who refuses to capitulate"

Green Day are releasing their first book, titled Last of the American Girls.

The book, which hits shelves on October 29, is described as “an inspiring homage and handbook for the rebellious everywoman who refuses to capitulate.”

Members of the band – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool – have collectively co-authored the book, which is named after the band’s ’21st Century Breakdown’ cut ‘Last of the American Girls’. It’s illustrated by cartoonist Frank Caruso.

There are no further details about the release at this time but it as Rolling Stone reports the book is being further billed as a celebration of “true rebel girls”, a reference to the ‘American Idiot’ track ‘She’s a Rebel’.

Elsewhere, footage has emerged of Armstrong performing with his childhood punk band at the age of 16.

The clip originally featured in the 2017 documentary Turn It Around: The Story Of East Bay Punk, of which Green Day served as executive producers.
