Grimes walked off stage mid-set last night

“We just had a really disturbing thing happen to us today"

Grimes was opening for Florence And The Machine at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre last night (June 15) but cut her set short after walking off midway through.

Grimes aka Claire Boucher walked off stage after performing ‘World Princess part II’. She is currently on her world tour, heading to the UK next week before performing at Glastonbury.

Speaking before the performance of ‘World Princess part II’, Boucher said: “We just had a really disturbing thing happen to us today, so sorry if my voice is shaking, it’s just kind of a fucked day.” She added she was having “a little trouble keeping it together.”

No statement or comment has been made regarding Boucher’s statements, with a spokesperson telling Pitchfork: “Unfortunately we cannot”.

Today it was announced that Grimes was one of the artists longlisted for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize.

The Weeknd, Dilly Dally, Peaches, Carly Rae Jepsen and Kaytranada also appear on the longlist for the prestigious award, which recognises the best album of the year by a Canadian artist.

A total of 40 albums have earned places on the longlist for the 2016 prize, which recognises albums released between June 1, 2015 and May 31, 2016. The 40-album longlist will be streamlined into a 10-album shortlist on July 14, with the winner being announced at a ceremony in Toronto on September 19. A Grand Jury of 11 members will decide the ultimate winner.
