Grimes previews snippet of new song ‘That’s What The Drugs Are For’ in Apple advert

She teased the track in a new Apple advert

Grimes appears in a new Apple commercial which previews a snippet of a new song titled ‘That’s What The Drugs Are For’.

Titled ‘Behind The Mac’, the advert shows Claire Boucher working on music on her Macbook. “I hate permission, I don’t want permission” she says as the teaser plays in the background. If I just want to drop something, I just drop it.”

“It’s super important for me to work on the floor a lot,” she continues. “Not having a studio, not having a professional set-up… you can do way weirder things if you’re along in a room and you’re not worried about people judging you.”

The Canadian artist is yet to release any new solo music this year, but has been hinting towards new material. Earlier in June Grimes shared two snippets from new songs. She described one as “a cheesy love song”, and the second as “a cyberpunk interpretation of the bajirao mastani movie.”

As well as collaborating with Janelle Monae on ‘PYNK‘ from her acclaimed new album ‘Dirty Computer‘, Grimes has also teased new music made with Youtube sensation Poppy this year.
