Grizzly Bear criticise fans following Newcastle gig

Band question their older fanbase in Europe

Grizzly Bear have criticised their fans after a concert in Newcastle last night.

The US band, who released new album ‘Shields’ earlier this year, were performing at The Sage venue in the North-East and left the stage less than happy with the audience reaction to their set.

Taking to his personal Twitter to air his grievenances, lead singer Ed Droste said: “FYI: we like it when people cheer between songs, during songs, yell shit, whatever. Please don’t be overly attentive for us. Thnx”. A tweet from the band’s account then asked: “Why does our fan-base skew so much older in Europe than the US? So random. Good 10-15 year age difference”.

The band continued to question the reaction to the response they received in Newcastle over a number of separate Tweets, all of which you can see below.

Grizzly Bear’s UK tour continues tonight (October 18) in Manchester with dates in Glasgow, Coventry and London to follow.

Meanwhile, Chris Taylor of the band recently revealed he is writing a cookbook which he promises will be ‘seasonally relevant’ and inspired by his love of throwing dinner parties for friends – presumably with a round of applause between each course.
