The rapper is accused of hitting a soldier on the head with a champagne bottle
Rapper Gucci Mane has been arrested for assault.
Mane – real name Radric Davis – was in custody this morning (March 27) on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon, after being accused of hitting a soldier on the head with a champagne bottle, reports Billboard. He reportedly turned himself in to Georgia’s Fulton County Jail last night.
MTV recently reported that Mane allegedly struck James Lettley of Fort Hood, Texas, in an Atlanta nightclub on March 15.
Lettley claims that he had asked a security guard in the VIP section of the Harlem Nights establishment if he could take a photograph with the rapper when the incident happened.
“I was speaking to the security guard, and Gucci Mane hit me in the head with a bottle,” he said. “And as I looked at him in the shock of why, one of his friends hit me in the side of my face.”
He added: “That is dangerous because if there was to be any other fan trying to approach him, ain’t no telling what else he might do to them. He could have possibly killed me. I just hope and pray that I recover pretty well because I still want to serve my military career.”
Earlier this month, Gucci Mane announced his intentions to change his name to Guwop – but abandoned the plan 30 minutes later after being subjected to abuse from his Twitter followers.
