Ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan: ‘I was reluctant to support the current line-up’

But singer admits he is excited to see Axl Rose again

Ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan has admitted that he had reservations about teaming up with the current line-up of his old band.

His group Loaded opened for Axl Rose’s band at Seattle’s KeyArena last night (December 16) and will perform at Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum tonight (December 17), fuelling rumours earlier this week that the original line-up may reform.

He told Seattleweekly.com:

I was somehow reluctant at first to do this. I love that dude (Axl Rose), but wanted to sort of stay out of the fray, especially after that whirlwind tour of the world we had just done.

McKagan added: “But this fray is only a fray if I let it be. And now I am actually pretty excited to see my old pal. His band is the nicest bunch of fellas.”

“After all, it is just some dudes doing what they know how to do best: connect with the audience, that fan-ship that has honored us with their presence for so damn long.”

The last time he joined the band, whose only original member is frontman Axl Rose, was for a one-off gig last year.

Guns N’ Roses will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 14, 2012.
