Guns N’ Roses member claims he was drunk when he called reunion a ‘money grab’

Chris Pitman also called the classic-era reunion a 'nostalgia tour'

Chris Pitman, the keyboardist for Guns N’ Roses since 1998, has apologised to fans for slamming the band’s original line-up reuniting for a series of lucrative live shows.

Axl Rose has reunited with original members Slash and Duff McKagan for the dates, which include a headline slot at Coachella. After the news of the reunion was announced, Pitman criticised the band in a now-deleted online post.

Pitman’s original post reportedly read: “This is a nostalgia tour, please don’t mention those who are there the last 20 fucking years… oh god no… a money grab… FU.”

The musician has since taken to Twitter to apologise for his remarks, suggesting that he was drunk at the time. Pitman wrote: “I sincerely apologise to GNR, especially the band and crew, for stupid comments about upcoming tour… remember kids, don’t drink and text!”

Guns N’ Roses reunion tour begins in April with the band headlining Coachella, among other dates. Alice In Chains were announced as the support for their Las Vegas dates. The exact line-up for the band’s upcoming ‘classic’-era reunion tour has yet to be confirmed.

The band’s former guitarist Izzy Stradlin has confirmed that he will not be part of the band’s reunion plans this year.
