Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba comments on upcoming reunion

Guitarist DJ Ashba left the Guns N' Roses lineup in July 2015

Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba has said he hopes Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin will join the band’s upcoming reunion, as well as early members Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke.

DJ Ashba joined the band in 2009 and played with them for six years until announcing his departure in July 2015 to focus on his own band Sixx:A.M.

Alongside Axl Rose, the members confirmed so far for the classic lineup reunion in April include Slash and Duff McKagan. Responding to a fan’s question on Sixx:A.M.’s Facebook page earlier this week about the reunion of Guns N’ Roses’ original lineup, DJ Ashba wrote, “I love it for the fans. However, I hope they bring in Steven [Adler], Izzy [Stradlin] and even Matt [Sorum] and Gilby [Clarke]!”

On his departure from the band in July 2015, Ashba wrote, “It is with a very heavy heart and yet great pride that I announce that I’ve decided to close this chapter of my life and encapsulate the wonderful times that I’ve shared with Guns N’Roses into fond memories”.

Ashba also took time out to pay special tribute to his Guns N’ Roses frontman: “I want to take a moment to thank Axl [Rose] from the bottom of my heart for not only the most incredible experience of my life, but for truly believing in me. You are a true friend and a champion of mine and I am forever grateful. And even as I move on to pursue other endeavors, I will always remain one of your biggest fans.”

In January it was announced that the band would headline Coachella 2016, with frontman Axl Rose later confirming Slash and Duff McKagan’s return. Since the announcement they have confirmed further gigs including two warmup shows for Coachella and another in Mexico.
