Axl Rose says he doesn’t know why ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Izzy Stadlin won’t rejoin the band

Question marks are also raised over former drummer Steven Adler

Axl Rose has admitted he can’t understand why former bandmate Izzy Stradlin wants no part in the Guns N’ Roses reunion.

The guitarist was not part of the first leg of the reunited group’s ‘Not In This Lifetime Tour’ in the US and the singer is bemused as to why he hasn’t come on board.

“I don’t really know what to say about Izzy,” Rose told Fantástico, a weekly news show on Brazil’s Globo TV: “It’s like you could have a conversation and think it’s one way, and the next day it’s another way. And I’m not trying to take any shots at Izzy. It’s just his thing is kind of his thing, whatever that is.”

Stradlin co-founded the group with Rose in 1985. He originally left in 1991 but has made occasional guest appearances in the past.

GNR drummer Steven Adler, has also appeared sparingly on the tour – something Rose said was the result of a health issue. “I have no idea,” he said as to whether Adler’s involvement might continue. “When this started, Steven had just had back surgery and stuff, so I don’t have any idea about that.”

Adler reunited for the first time since 1990 at a gig in Cincinnati earlier this summer.

Although Axl Rose, Slash and bassist Duff McKagan from the classic Guns N’ Roses line-up have been reunited for their comeback US tour, the band’s drummer has been Frank Ferrer from the pre-reunion line-up.

Adler played on two songs at the show in Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium, ‘Out Ta Get Me’ and ‘My Michelle’, joining Ferrer as a second drummer.
