Hadouken!‘s James Smith has talked up his band’s new album ‘For The Masses’, adding that he “can’t” listen to their 2008 debut ‘Music For An Accelerated Culture’ anymore.
The frontman told NME.COM that he believed that the album had seen the band push forward their sound, having worked with production duo Noisia in Groningen, Holland.
“I can’t listen to our first album,” the rapper/singer explained. He added: “Partially because there’s no dynamics on it. I did listen to that album and thought we could improve so much, we could be a much better band.
“This is a radio unfriendly record maybe in the way that Leftfield‘s ‘Rhythm And Stealth’ is,” he claimed. “Or something like ‘Poison’ by The Prodigy. It’s a dark record, but they break through because the song is so strong. Your mum’s not going to like this record, basically.”
‘For The Masses’ was released yesterday (January 25).
Meanwhile, Hadouken! will headline a Shockwaves NME Awards show at the London Scala on February 3.
