Bass player claims she "fucked the system" during afternoon set at festival
Este from Haim revealed onstage at Leeds Festival that she cheated on her SATs.
The band’s bass player did not disclose what she did to cheat the exams, traditionally taken by US students at the age of 16 in their junior year of high school, but she did tell the audience at Haim’s gig on the NME/Radio 1 Stage that she was at a music festival when she should have been taking the exams.
Chatting on stage about the number of people in the audience who had recently got their GCSE results, released earlier this week, Este said: “I hear you’ve got something similar to the SATs: is it GCSEs?” Later adding: “Full disclosure: I cheated on my SATs. I fucked the US SAT system!”
A huge singalong to ‘Falling’ ensued as the band played to a huge audience. Shortly afterwards the band played played ‘Don’t Save Me’ and ‘The Wire’ to a similar reaction. Taking time out to scope the local “babes”, guitarist Alana and Este singled out one audience member in a Hawaiian shirt for a spot of mid-set flirting.
Shortly before wrapping up the set, Alana again reterated how happy she was to be there, saying; “We came all the way from Los Angeles to be here and we love you.”
Biffy Clyro, Nine Inch Nails, Fall Out Boy and The Lumineers will be performing throughout the day on the Main Stage at Leeds Festival. Other artists appearing across the Leeds site include Phoenix, Azealia Banks, Disclosure, Spector, Mount Kimbie, Wretch 32 and Funeral For A Friend.
