Hanson launch own beer, MmmHops

Merchandise relates to the band's brew is to be sold in aid of Oklahoma Tornado victims

Hanson have launched their own beer named Mmmhops, and will donate proceeds from sales of related merchandise to victims of the recent Oklahoma Tornado.

Hanson, who are currently celebrating 21 years in the music industry, come from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their Mmmhops beer – named for their track ‘MMMBop’ – is brewed in partnership with Oklahoma craft beer outfit Mustang Brewing. Billboard reports that proceeds from sales of Mmmhops-related merchandise, but not the beer itself, will be donated to the Red Cross disaster relief fund. These items, including various shirts and beer glasses, are available now.

“The tragedy hits close to home, especially since this community was among the first places our band performed together, including schools which were lost in the storm,” Taylor Hanson said in a statement. “We are hopeful that the proceeds we can galvanize will play a lasting role in the recovery efforts.”

Mmmhop was first mentioned in 2011 and the Indian pale ale is finally reaching the shelves two years later.

Hanson aren’t the only band to try their hand at the alcoholic beverage industry. Elbow launched their own charity beer named after their ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’ album and donated the proceeds from its sales to Oxfam, while the likes of Professor Green, Iron Maiden and Kiss have also introduced their own brands of ale this year.
