Shaun Ryder, Nuts and Bez join Emlyn Hughes and Terry Venables in lapdancing bar for cinema ad...
Happy Mondays have teamed up with Terry Venables, David Seaman, Emlyn Hughes and Stuart Hall on new cinema adverts for sportswear firm Admiral.
The band will appear in two adverts, featuring them playing football and at London Stringfellow‘s lapdancing bar while Hall commentates on the dancers’ performances. The ads, which also feature Chelsea footballer Dennis Wise and Bobby Charlton, will be shown on cinema screens over the coming months.
Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder, who has been sponsored by Admiral since the start of his Daily Sport column 18 months ago, told NME: “Emlyn‘s wearing the tracksuit, the thing that he wore in the ’70s, and we’re just sat there watching these dancers and Stuart Hall‘s commentating, with Emlyn at the bar.”
Ryder is also set to appear, along with Happy Mondays singer Nuts, in a film written two-and-a-half years ago by his friend Tom ‘Too Nice Tom’ Bruggen, the maker of the Black Grape documentary The Grape Tapes. Molly’s Idle Ways will start filming in January next year.
