Harry Styles becomes executive producer on new sitcom – based on his own life

'Happy Together' will debut in the Autumn

Harry Styles has been named as an executive producer on the new sitcom Happy Together on CBS.

The One Direction turned solo star’s new role was confirmed by CBS scheduling chief Kelly Kahl at a conference, reports the Washington Post – and is reportedly based on Styles’ past ‘real life living situation’.

‘Happy Together will star Damon Wayans Jr. and Amber Stevens West playing a suburban married couple whose life is interrupted by a young popstar (played by Felix Mallard) who comes to live with them. This is set around Styles’ own life during the rapid rise of One Direction, when Styles lived with his friend Ben Winston and his wife in the suburbs of London.

A statement from CBS explains that the show will only be loosely based on Styles’ life: “Although the series is inspired by when Ben and Harry lived together, that’s where the reality ends. The show is not based on real life experiences and characters.”

The show will debut this Autumn on CBS.

Last month saw Styles complete his UK arena tour for his self-titled debut album. One of the final shows saw his audience use their phone lights to create a giant LGBTQ flag.

During ‘Sweet Creature’, the room was lit up by the lights from fans’ camera phones, but each section of the venue took on a different colour of the rainbow.

Styles reportedly had no idea of the plans to create the stunning display, with two fans claiming responsibility.
