Two '90s classics collide....

Green Day‘s ‘Basket Case’ has been set to The Simpsons‘ classic ‘Steamed Hams’ scene – check out the hilarious mash-up below.

The scene in question, lifted from the 1996 episode ’22 Short Films About Springfield’, focuses on a farcical lunch between Principal Skinner and Superintendent Chalmers. Various interpretations have been shared online in recent years.

In the latest version to gain traction on social media, we hear Skinner and Chalmers’ dialogue soundtracked by the pop-punk trio’s 1994 hit. The characters’ voices have been manipulated to fit the song’s melody while its thrashing instrumental plays behind.

Last year, Piers Morgan’s much-talked-about interview with President Donald Trump was given the ‘Steamed Hams’ treatment. Elsewhere, a fan transformed the popular sketch into an impressive arcade game.

Back in January 2018, the scene’s writer shared its entire original draft online. Bill Oakley also revealed how the line ‘unforgettable luncheon‘ almost ended up on the cutting room floor.

Meanwhile, Green Day recently confirmed that they are releasing their first book. Last of the American Girls, released this October, is described as “an inspiring homage and handbook for the rebellious everywoman who refuses to capitulate.”

Upon its announcement, some fans took to social media to voice that frustration and confusion over the project. “Green Day, a band of men, making a book for women about how to be independent punks uhhhh,” one Twitter user posted.
