Here’s previously unreleased Joe Strummer track, ‘Rose Of Erin’

To celebrate the icon's upcoming birthday

To celebrate what would have been Joe Strummer‘s birthday, his previously unreleased ‘Rose Of Erin’ has now officially hit streaming platforms. Check it out below.

The Clash icon would have turned 66 next week on August 21, so to celebrate Ignition Records have today dropped another cut from upcoming rarities album ‘JOE STRUMMER 001‘.

Originally written for the 1993 Sara Driver film When Pigs Fly, the soundtrack featuring ‘Rose Of Erin’ was never released. Driven by strings, the track is Strummer leaning towards his more cinematic and free-flowing pop-folk side.

Due for release on September 21, ‘JOE STRUMMER 001’ features 32 tracks and includes 12 previously unreleased songs, as well as known favourites from his recordings with the 101ers, The Mescaleros and his extensive soundtrack work. Pre-order it here.

Among the unreleased material is an early demo of ‘This Is England’ entitled ‘Czechoslovak Song/Where Is England,’ a solo demo of ‘Letsagetabitarockin’ recorded in Elgin Avenue in 1975, as well outtakes from ‘Sid & Nancy’ featuring Mick Jones and unreleased songs ‘Rose Of Erin’.

It’s also set to feature ‘London Is Burning’ one of the last songs Joe recorded.
