Holy Ghost! tease new ‘Crime Cutz’ EP – listen to title track

First EP since 2014 streamed on Zane Lowe's Beat 1 Show

Brooklyn four piece Holy Ghost have teased the title track to forthcoming EP ‘Crime Cutz’

The track was named ‘Today’s World First’ by DJ Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show today, February 4. It’s the first material released since the disco-punk band’s album ‘Dynamics’ in 2013 and ‘The Changing of The Guard’ EP in 2014. Stream the track in the player below.

In a press release, band member Nick Millhiser said:”Coming out of recording and then subsequently playing/touring the last record, we didn’t have a clear game plan for new music other than a broad goal of trying to do stuff that was instantly rhythmically gratifying. As a drummer, I get parts that I find to be rhythmically catchy stuck in my head all the time” he explains of the track.

“The drums on “Very Ape” by Nirvana or the confusing synth hook on ABBAs “Gimme Gimme Gimme” or the weird angular interplay between synths and guitar on “I Feel Your Love Coming On” by Chic. So this was an attempt to do something that was sort of rhythm ear candy. Simple. Angular. Funky. Physical. Fun.”

The track is due for release on DFA Records, the label run by LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy. Holy Ghost! have also released a ‘Crime Cutz Trailer’ video on YouTube; watch that in the player below.

‘Crime Cutz’ is released April 29.
