FRESH HOPE

The band decide the gig is the right place to reveal new material…

Hope Of The States unveiled new material at last night’s (February 15) SHOCKWAVES NME AWARDS show in LONDON.

Playing the London Astoria with Willy Mason, The Bravery and Sons & Daughters, the band previewed several new tracks, including ‘The Good Fight’, which featured several ambitious instrumental passages.

“I thought this would be the right occasion to play some new songs,” explained singer Sam Herlihy of the band’s 15-song, headlining set which also featured favourites ‘Black Dollar Bills’ and ‘Enemies/Friends’ from their first album ‘The Lost Riots’.

The three other acts on the bill also impressed with Willy Mason playing a stunning solo version of ‘Oxygen’, Son & Daughters winning loud cheers from the crowd, while the The Bravery Sam Endicott admitted he overcame the threat of “diarrhoea” to take to the stage – then dived off it again midway through set closer ‘Fearless’.

The ShockWaves NME Awards shows continue this evening at the Astoria with The Tears, The Magic Numbers, The Dead 60s and Nine Black Alps on the bill.
