DJ and super-producer HOWIE B is in talks with NASA about producing a piece of music to be played to orbiting astronauts, NME.COM can reveal.

The Scottish dance guru, a longtime associate of U2 amongst others, has been working with former Sugarcubes guitarist Thor Eldon on the project. A spokesperson for the star explained that the plan was to produce a 45-minute piece. It takes 45 minutes to circumnavigate the earth while in space, and the music will be designed to soundtrack each revolution.

It is unknown exactly how the link between NASA and Howie B was made or how far the project is from completion.

Howie is also set to work with controversial Danish film director Lars Von Trier on a forthcoming hardcore porn film. The filmmaker, who recently directed Bjork in the award winning ‘Dancer In The Dark’, is understood to be in pre-production with the as yet untitled picture. He approached Howie after hearing ‘Pussy Porn’, the album Howie released several years ago through his Pussyfoot imprint as a soundtrack to an unmade porn flick.

Howie B, meanwhile, releases his own album ‘Folk’ through Polydor on September 3.
