Hudson Mohawke is working on new music with both Antony Hegarty and Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis.
The Scottish producer, who has previously worked with artists including Kanye West and Drake, revealed news of the two forthcoming projects in an interview with NME, due to be published in full later this week.
“The album I’m producing for Anthony is really cool as fuck,” he says. “It’s really political, very angry, taking on the NSA.” The producer, real name Ross Birchard, was less open about his project with Philippakis, stating simply that is is “coming along. I think it’ll be pretty special.”
Foals recently announced that they plan to take a break for 18 months after headlining Bestival on the Isle of Wight last weekend. The band will regroup to work on the follow up to 2013 album ‘Holy Fire’. Hegarty, however, has not released an album since Antony and the Johnsons’ 2010 album ‘Swanlights’. He previously collected the 2005 Mercury Prize for ‘I Am A Bird Now’.
Meanwhile, Hudson Mohawke is set to release a new EP, ‘Chimes’, later this month. The record will be released on the Warp label on September 29. The song ‘Chimes’ also provides the soundtrack to a new Apple advert.
The ‘Chimes’ EP tracklist is:
‘Chimes’
‘Brainwave’
‘King Kong Beaver’
‘Chimes’ (Grammer Re-Edit)
