Hudson Mohawke shares new track ‘Ryderz’ – listen

The electronic producer was premiered on Rinse FM last night (April 12)

Hudson Mohawke has revealed a second track from his upcoming album ‘Lantern’.

The track is titled ‘Ryderz’ and was aired during the Scottish musician’s takeover on Rinse FM last night (April 12) and follows ‘Very First Breath (feat. Irfane)’, which premiered last month.

Listen to ‘Ryderz’ below.

‘Lantern’ will be Mohawke’s first full release in six years following 2009 release, ‘Butter’. It features a number of collaborations with vocalists including Anthony Hegarty (of Anthony and the Johnsons), Miguel and Jhené Aiko.

Since ‘Butter’, Mohawke – real name Ross Birchard – has worked with Drake and Azealia Banks, in addition to his side-project with Canadian producer Lunice, TNGHT.

Speaking in the new issue of NME, which is on newsstands now and available digitally, Hudson Mohawke discussed how working with Kanye West and Rick Rubin influenced his new album.

“A lot of [the inspiration for ‘Lantern’] was observing how Rick Rubin works,” the producer said. “Just being in his company and observing the fact that he’s not playing with keyboards, he’s not touching a mouse, not looking at a screen. He’s just got his eyes closed, listening. So if I’ve almost finished something, and I wanna listen to it, the computer screen gets turned off. I’ll go and stand outside the room and listen to it as if it’s playing in a club.”

‘Lantern’ is due on June 15 on Warp. Hudson Mohawke will play a number of festivals this summer, including Field Day, Parklife and Reading & Leeds.
