Britney Spears responds after Iggy Azalea blames her for lack of collaboration success

Azalea recently blamed lack of promotion for the failure of her Britney collaboration 'Pretty Girls'

Britney Spears has responded to what the singer perceived as criticism from her recent collaborator Iggy Azalea.

Rapper-and-singer Azalea recently spoke about the commercial failure of her single with Spears, ‘Pretty Girls’. In a series of tweets, she blamed lack of promotion and “content” for the flop.

The collaborative effort was released in May, reaching Number 16 in the UK and Number 29 in the US, considerably less successful than previous hits ‘Fancy’ and ‘Problem’ during 2014.

With Azalea later adding that her original comments were “factual”, she also said in reference to her relationship with Spears: “I dont have to suck the womans asshole 24/7 to be her friend, do i?”

Iggy Azalea recently told fans that she has scrapped six months worth of work in order to start over with her new album.

The rapper released her major label debut ‘The New Classic’ in April 2014 and revealed on Twitter that she had “scraped [sic] an entire 6 months of work” on the follow up and “started totally new.”

However, fans concerned that this may lead to a change in style of music were assured by the rapper who said it is currently “too early to tell how things would sound overall”, and that she is not “looking to abandon [her] identity”.
