Iggy Pop annotates lyrics from ‘Post-Pop Depression’ album

Pop releases Josh Homme-produced record in March

Iggy Pop has annotated his lyrics for new song ‘Break Into Your Heart’, which appears on upcoming solo album ‘Post-Pop Depression’.

“What you’re seeing is my mad scribble,” Pop tells Vulture of the process writing ‘Break Into Your Heart’. “What’s less obvious is the thinking behind it.”

Josh Homme, who produced ‘Post-Pop Depression’, also explains some of his thinking behind working with Iggy Pop. “I think of Iggy as this beautiful grizzled piece of art, and my job was to put it back in the right frame,” he says. “Sometimes, to do that, you have to push.”

Speaking specifically about ”, Pop adds: “These were the hardest lyrics for me on the record. For a young man like Josh, “Break Into Your Heart” has a sense of “Here I come, baby!” But I don’t feel that way. Stealing a heart — that suits where I am in my life.”
