Interpol’s Paul Banks and Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA share first single

The track features a guest appearance from Ghostface Killah

Wu Tang Clan founder RZA and Interpol frontman Paul Banks have released the first single from their new side project Banks and Steelz.

The track is called ‘Love + War’ and features an appearance from fellow Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah. Zane Lowe premiered it on his Beats 1 radio show.

This collaboration has been on the cards for three years, first surfacing in 2013 when RZA told Rolling Stone that they were working together.

“My manager came to me and said, ‘Who do you want to do an album with?’ I said, “Well, Paul just has an energy about him. I think if we put our sandwich together it will be great.” Me and Paul, we play chess together and just hang out.

“We went to the studio and we started writing songs and they sound very, very different than what I do, but very unique and very peculiar. But it won’t be out for a while. It may take us a year to finish this album. That’s where my heart is at musically.”

To coincide with the track premiere, the pair set up two separate installations in New York and Los Angeles. Lowe tweeted a picture of the latter, located on LA’s famed Fairfax Avenue. The duo have also booked sets at FYF Fest and Austin City Limits, with a full length album set to be released soon.
