The metal gods and the rock legend team up at Rock In Rio - and Page gets a special gift for his homeless charity Casa Jimmy...
IRON MAIDEN were the latest rock icons to arrive in BRAZIL yesterday (January 17) and meet the press prior to Friday night’s (January 19) headline slot at ROCK IN RIO.
The metal veterans sprang a surprise on reporters when Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page appeared and was presented with a Fender guitar signed by all of Iron Maiden, which will be auctioned for charity. Proceeds will be donated to the homeless shelter Casa Jimmy, which Page and his Brazilian wife Ximena run for homeless kids and teens.
Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson quipped: “We are giving you just what you don’t need Jimmy, another guitar!” Page added: “This is a very special occasion for me. It’s great to be able to help other people in the world.”
At the press conference, Iron Maiden also revealed they will record the show for a live CD and DVD, and have been visiting various locations in Rio all week to film additional images for the DVD.
