Evanescence got the crowd ready for headliners Iron Maiden at Download Festival tonight (June 10).
Towards the end of their set, the Amy Lee fronted band mentioned that they were humbled to be playing before the rock legends.
Lee said: “I don’t think you guys realise what a big fucking deal this is for us. We’re opening for IRON fucking MAIDEN!”
Earlier, Lee was defending her band against hecklers.
She said: “Yes we’ve got a grand piano onstage, so what? I’m one of the only chicks singing melodies up here.
“I think we belong and this stage and you guys know that. We’re going to play one song on it, and it won’t suck, I think you guys will agree. And if you don’t, well, bring it.”
Later in the set, Lee told the audience that they would not be playing one of their most popular songs.
“We’re not playing ’My Immortal’ tonight – we’re sick of that song,” she declared.
Evanescence played:
‘Weight Of The World’
‘Sweet Sacrifice’
‘Going Under’
‘The Only One’
‘Cloud Nine’
‘Lithium’
‘Whisper’
‘Haunted’
‘Tourniquet’
‘Call Me When You’re Sober’
‘Imaginary’
‘Bring Me To Life’
‘Lacrymosa’
‘Your Star’
