The offices of rap label MURDER INC in NEW YORK were raided by police on Friday (January 3).
According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, the raid was part of a long-running investigation into label boss Irv Gotti, real name Irving Lorenzo.
The report claims that the police are looking into allegations that Gotti could have used his links with Kenneth McGriff, the convicted head of New York drug gang the “Supreme Team”, to finance his involvement in the music industry. Allegations of money laundering are also being investigated.
McGriff co-produced and co-wrote the Murder Inc film ‘Crime Partners 2000’.
The label has worked in the past with Ashanti and Ja Rule.
According to the newspaper, computers and documents were seized by the FBI and New York Police Department during their search.
