Watch Jack Antonoff defend Lorde after heckler calls her out over Israel boycott

Heckle happened at a charity gig in New York

A fan heckled Lorde at a charity show last night about her recent cancellation of a show in Israel, with Bleachers‘ Jack Antonoff coming to the singer’s defence.

The New Zealand artist performed at the fourth annual Ally Coalition charity event in New York City on Wednesday (January 24), which was hosted by Antonoff and his sister Rachel. The event is held to raise money for at-risk LGBTQ youth and to combat homelessness.

After performing a piano cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Run Away With Me’, Lorde remarked how nice the crowd were, to which a heckler replied: “In Israel, they’re nice too!”.

“I know that,” Lorde replied, before Antonoff took aim at the heckler: “No, hold on. We’ve raised a shit-ton of money tonight. Fuck that negativity.”

“That motherfucker better donate a couple ten thousands dollars more to this shit,” Antonoff added.

The remark from the audience member was made in reference to Lorde’s controversial decision to cancel a recent show in Israel.

The ‘Run Away With Me’ cover featured in the set alongside a rendition of Roy Orbison‘s ‘You Got It’, plus performances of ‘Melodrama’ album highlights like ‘Green Light’ and ‘Writer In The Dark’.
