The Ruen Brothers play Jack Daniel’s JD Roots Homecoming show

The band perform a triumphant gig at the Priory Hotel in their native Scunthorpe

The Ruen Brothers have played a triumphant gig at the Priory Hotel in their native Scunthorpe (21 June), providing the grand finale to the Jack Daniel’s JD Roots series of homecoming shows.

The Brothers (siblings Rupert and Henry Stansall, 22 and 23 respectively) returned to the scene of some of their earliest successes, where they cut their teeth playing in covers bands performing 60s rock ‘n’ roll classics. They received a rapturous response to big recent singles ‘Aces’ and ‘Walk Like A Man’, both independently released and subsequently identified for greatness by the likes of Kasabian’s Tom Meighan and BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe.

The band, bolstered live by Gary Cleaver on bass and percussionist Charlie Hart (celebrating his 19th birthday tonight) ended their set with a take on blues standard ‘Got My Mojo Working’.

‘Walk Like A Man’
‘What’s Going On?’
‘Letters’
‘Hold Me Tight’
‘Crying Wolf’
‘Sunny Side Of Town’
‘Blood Runs Wild’
