Jack White joins Brendan Benson on stage at benefit gig

The Raconteurs pair reunited at the David Lynch Foundation show in Nashville this week (December 19)

[Jack White] joined Brendan Benson on stage at a benefit gig this week (December 19) to play three tracks, reports Stereogum.

The White Stripes man took time out from working on his first solo record to reunite with The Raconteurs bandmate Benson at the David Lynch Foundation show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Thursday night. Together they played versions of Benson’s own track ‘Good To Me’, along with The Raconteurs’ ‘Steady As She Goes’ and ‘Hands’. Watch fan-shot footage from the concert below.

Meanwhile, White’s other band The Dead Weather recently returned with a new single ‘Open Up (That’s Enough)’. The song was released via the subscription only Third Man Vault, part of White’s Third Man Records label, and will be available to download digitally on January 14. A new album from the band is expected in 2015.

The new album will be the first LP from the band, which also features The Kills‘ Alison Mosshart and Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age, since they released ‘Sea Of Cowards’ in 2010. A statement from the label on ‘Open Up (That’s Enough)’ as well as other new song ‘Rough Detective’ said the tracks “are unlike anything else the band has ever done and are both ample reminders of the ferocity of this motley collection of low-lifes, grifters and ne’er-do-wells. These songs are not throw-aways. These songs are not demos. These songs are not outtakes.”
