Jack White’s newfound friendship with The Muppets continues with a cover of Stevie Wonder’s ‘You Are the Sunshine of My Life’.
The cover was recorded with the Muppets house band, the Electric Mayhem and comes ahead of White’s cameo in the finale of the current TV series from Kermit, Miss Piggy and co this evening (March 1). White’s Third Man Records are reportedly lining up a vinyl release of the cover, and it can be streamed via Apple Music in the meantime.
A new series of the kids show began last year on US TV and will conclude with a season finale tonight. White will make a cameo in that episode with the Third Man Records Instagram suggesting that he will be on hand to help Kermit with “matters of the heart”.
White is not the first musical cameo on The Muppets recently. Dave Grohl also appeared in the series and battled Animal in a frenzied drum off.
