White and Third Man Records launched a "space-proof" turntable
Jack White has played the first ever record in space.
The musician and his record label Third Man Records launched a “space-proof” turntable called the Icarus Craft attached to a high-altitude balloon.
On the turntable was Carl Sagan‘s ‘A Glorious Dawn’, a single Third Man released in 2010.
As Uproxx reports, the balloon and turntable were launched just outside Marsing, Idaho.
The turntable began playing the record whilst in flight. It floated upwards for 80 minutes, where it reached over 94,000 feet. The balloon then popped and the Icarus Craft fell back to Earth.
