Jack White plays on as Dublin gig is cut short – watch

White joined by The Kills as they defy curfew

Footage has been posted online of Jack White defying a curfew to carry on performing at a show in Dublin last week, despite having the power cut off at the end of his scheduled set.

White was joined by The Kills for an unplugged cover of Leadbelly’s ‘Goodnight Irene’. Kills singer Alison Mosshart – White’s bandmate in The Dead Weather – had already joined him on stage on Thursday June 26 at Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham for ‘Love Interruption’ before Kills guitarist Jamie Hince came on for the finale. The 135-minute show also included covers of Beck’s ‘Where It’s At’ and The Stooges’ ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ as part of a medley with The White Stripes’ ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’.

As the power was switched off shortly after 11pm, White announced: “Listen up, you’ve got to quiet down. You’ve got to quiet down, the PA’s gone.” He led the audience through the lyrics of the remainder of the song. Footage of the song can be seen below.

White is second on the bill of the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury before Metallica tonight (June 28), before a show at Hammersmith Apollo on July 3. He embarks on a three-date tour in November.

Jack White will play:
July 3: Hammersmith Apollo
November 17: Leeds Arena
November 18: Glasgow Hydro Arena
November 19: London O2
