James Blake debuts brand new song on Jamie xx radio show

Untitled track played as The xx producer steps in for Benji B on BBC Radio 1

James Blake premiered a brand new song on BBC Radio 1 last night.

Jamie xx, the producer and member of The xx, stepped in for regular host Benji B in the 2am-4am slot and was joined in the studio by Blake, who played the untitled track for the first time. The whole show can be heard now via BBC iPlayer with Blake’s new song arriving around the 28-minute mark.

Jamie xx also played songs by Kate Tempest, Real Lies, John Talabot, DJ Rashad and Gil Scott Heron among others.

Earlier this year James Blake confirmed that he has finished half of his new album and revealed plans to collaborate with both Kanye West and Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon. Blake released his Mercury Prize winning second album, ‘Overgrown’, in 2013 and is eyeing an early 2015 release for its follow up.

The London-born singer’s next UK show will come as part of the capital’s first Jabberwocky festival in August on a bill that includes Neutral Milk Hotel, Forest Swords, Caribou, Iceage, Earth and Joanna Gruesome.
