James Blunt just burned John Mayer on Twitter

"Mate, I've covered this already"

James Blunt has delivered a dig at John Mayer on Twitter, jokingly accusing the star of ripping him off.

Blunt – known for his humorous and self-deprecating Twitter account – recently unearthed a Mayer tweet from October 2017 in which the US singer-songwriter wrote: “If you’re pretty, you’re pretty; but the only way to be beautiful is to be loving. Otherwise, it’s just ‘congratulations about your face.'”

Making reference to his own 2004 hit ‘You’re Beautiful’, Blunt has now replied: “Mate, I’ve covered this already.” See those tweets below.

Needless to say, Blunt’s fans found the whole thing very amusing:

With some suggesting a Blunt/Mayer mash-up:

Last year saw James Blunt open for Ed Sheeran on his US tour.

Blunt has revealed what he and Sheeran get up to on tour, detailing their not-very-rockstar antics.

“It’s extremely calm. We drink tea. We watch television series – I can’t think of which one, but we take it very easy,” Blunt said.

“I have five people in my band, he has a loop pedal,” Blunt added of Sheeran. “He’s not only a great musician but a great businessman, too. It feels highly inefficient of me, and my band sit there nervously, waiting to be fired.”

Blunt also revealed that Sheeran has been teaching him to write songs, saying that the two musicians have been helping one another to learn new skills.

“I’ve worked with a guy you might have heard of? Ed Sheeran?” Blunt said during an appearance on The One Show. “We had a great trade. I was his ski instructor – I taught him how to ski. And at night he taught me how to write songs.”
