JAMES BROWN is reported to be fighting cancer.

The funk legend, 71, will undergo an operation next week (December 15) in an attempt to beat prostate cancer.

A statement reads: “I have overcome a lot of things in my life. I will overcome this as well.”

Brown who has just completed a tour of Canada, is expected to spend the rest of the year in recovery.

Tour dates in the Far East and Australia are currently unchanged.

The star will release an autobiography entitled ‘I Feel Good: A Memoir of a Life of Soul’ in January and said he plans to promote the book in 2005.
