JAMES BROWN, THE GODFATHER OF SOUL has had his request to change 985 BROAD ST in AUGUSTA, GEORGIA to JAMES BROWN SQUARE approved by the local council.
Rather than wait for someone else to honour him, Brown submitted the request after buying the dormant First Federal Savings and Loan Association building in his home town. He intends to turn the former bank into his personal office space, and may also incorporate a music museum within its structure.
But once Brown noticed that Broad Street was near James Brown Boulevard he went for consistent vanity.

Earlier this year Brown’s original offices were destroyed by fire by a disgruntled employee. Brown then bought First Federal for $1million.
