Listen to James Corden and Ezra Koenig’s ‘Peter Rabbit’ collaboration

It's surprisingly Vampire Weekend-ish.

James Corden has joined forces with Ezra Koenig for a track from the ‘Peter Rabbit’ soundtrack that has been penned by the Vampire Weekend frontman.

‘I Promise You’ features Corden’s vocals, but it is Koenig’s influence that shines through with an afro-beat sound that doesn’t sound too dissimilar to that of  his own band.

The track was penned by Koenig and Peter Rabbit director Will Gluck, featuring on the official soundtrack of the live-action adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s classic books.

The film was released in US cinemas today (February 9) and also features the voices of Sia and Margot Robbie alongside a physical appearance from Domhnall Gleeson as villainous farmer McGregor.

Meanwhile, it is heavily expected that Vampire Weekend will return in 2018 with their first album for five years.

Last week, they announced their UK live return with a headline set at End of The Road Festival in September, after Koenig admitted last year that the record is “eighty percent done”.

In September, a fan tweeted Koenig a picture of a delicious pie she’d made, with the message “Where’s the album” written in pastry on the top.

He replied: “80% done but the last 20% is always the hardest”. There’s no release date confirmed yet, but we’ll keep you posted – and we promise that’s not pie in the sky.
