Janet Jackson undergoes surgery on her vocal cords

Singer urges fans to 'pray for her during this difficult time'

Janet Jackson has revealed she has had to undergo surgery on her vocal cords.

It comes after the singer was recently forced to postpone a series of US tour dates.

Following the news, Jackson took to her social media accounts to notify her fans. “Hey you guys…Happy Holidays to each and every one of you! I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,” she wrote.

“It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the ‘Unbreakable Tour’ until the spring. Every date will be rescheduled.”

She later continued, “Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time. There will be no further comment. I love you all so much and am ever grateful for your understanding and your love. Gon’ b alright.”

Jackson was been forced to postpone a series of live dates in the US late last year as she promoted her new album ‘Unbreakable’. She was told to rest her vocal cords on doctor’s orders.

She postponed shows in Salt Lake and Denver, Kansas City and St Louis. Jackson’s album ‘Unbreakable’, the singer’s 11th studio album and her first since 2008’s ‘Discipline’, was released on October 2 last year.

Jackson recently announced details of four UK arena dates to take place in March and April 2016. She was due to make her UK live return with gigs in Birmingham, London, Glasgow and Manchester.
