Jared Leto has posted the first image from the set of Morbius, a Spider-Man spin-off that’s due to air next year.
In the photo the Suicide Squad actor poses behind a clapperboard and announces in the caption that filming has begun for the Daniel Espinosa-directed movie.

The character, Morbius, has never appeared in a Spider-Man movie but he is part of the Marvel universe. Leto plays the titular role as a human vampire born of a faulty experiment.
Former Dr. Who star Matt Smith joins Leto in the film, which is currently an unspecified role, while Pacific Rim and True Detective actress Adria Arjona plays Martine Bancroft.
Leto, who fronts the band 30 Seconds to Mars, spent much of 2018 touring his band’s fifth album, ‘America’. His most recent films include Suicide Squad (2016) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017).
Meanwhile, it seems that the 47-year-old’s standalone Joker movie might not happen.
A spin-off featuring the actor’s take on the iconic Batman villain – whom he portrays in Suicide Squad – has reportedly been put on hold by Warner Bros.
Forbes reported last month that James Gunn’s forthcoming Suicide Squad sequel will be a “soft reboot” of that original film and will consequently leave little room for Leto’s take on the character.
“The Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film has also fallen by the wayside, as has the solo Joker project for Jared Leto’s version of the character from Suicide Squad. With Gunn on board as director, the film has plenty of room to bring a new flavor to the series and to the world of DC films as well,” Forbes wrote.
