Jason Derulo’s ‘Want To Want Me’ debuts at Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart

The singer knocks OMI's 'Cheerleader' to Number 2

Jason Derulo has gone straight to Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart with ‘Want To Want Me’.

The track racked up a combined chart sales figure of over 127,000 to nab the singer his fourth UK Number 1 after ‘In My Head’ (2010), ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ (2011) and ‘Talk Dirty’ (2013).

“I just want to say thank you to all the fans for giving me this tremendous pleasure,” said Derulo. “It never ever gets old. Honestly, it feels just as good every time, if not better.” Click below to watch the 25-year-old collect his Number 1 award.

Derulo pushed OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’ to Number 2 after four weeks at the top spot. Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber’s collaboration ‘Where Are U Now’ rose two places to Number 3, Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’ is at 4, while Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar complete the top 5 with ‘Bad Blood’.

The highest climber this week was Jessie J’s ‘Flashlight’, which jumped 25 places to Number 14.

Derulo debuted the video for ‘Want To Want Me’ in March via the dating app Tider. He explained the decision to US Weekly, describing Tinder as “the perfect place” to release the single: “Social media and dating together is the new wave. It is the source of one half of the relationships in 2015, and I’m all about being part of the new wave.

“A lot of my friends and family members are on Tinder… [It’s] the perfect place for my new single, ‘Want to Want Me’. On Tinder, you swipe left or right and want the person you like to want you, too. It is a cool and unique way to deliver my new video to the world.”
